chidori: Cheerful Kaname. (Default)
WHO: Kaname Chidori and Van.
WHAT: Kaname takes the plane to America, and finds more than she bargained for on-board.
WHEN: The day Kaname leaves for America.
MISSION: Have a normal plane trip to New York.
WATCH OUT FOR: TERRORISTS.

This world is so... very large. Then again, if it wasn't, Spicy Van probably would have found the Clawed Man by now and taken his head! Instead, he's huddled in the cargo area of a jet, frowning as he plays with strange puzzle. Of course, being unable to solve the puzzle isn't the only thing he's frowning at. To put it simply... well, his stomach does the talking for that, as it growls loudly. With less sense than should be expected from a man who's stowing away on an AIRPLANE, he begins by... rummaging around some of the nearby suitcases, hoping that someone left something to eat there.

The trip from Japan to the US is a long one, and it's certainly not one without its bathroom breaks. Kaname Chidori has just finished flushing the airplane toilet when she hears a noise coming from the other side of the wall.

She dismisses it at first, but then she hears it again. Kaname swallows. She hasn't been on board a plane since the hijacking incident last year. Maybe she's overreacting, but considering the strange series of events that led up to this trip, another hijacking wasn't entirely unprobable.

Kaname unlocks the door; a stewart is in the back, prepping her cart to offer refreshments to the airplane's patrons.

"I think I heard something coming from the other side of that wall," she says, gesturing at the door leading to the back of the plane.

"Oh?" She looks up from the plastic cups she's collecting; her lips, which had been quirked into a perfect smile up until now tug into a slight frown.

"Yeah, I heard it twice now!"

"I'll have someone check it out. Don't worry; just go back to your seat, and I'll let you know as soon as we find something out!" The stewart smiles, but it's not quite enough to set Kaname at ease.

Kaname does, however, return to her seat, occasionally glancing back down the aisle.

Van... is totally a hijacker. Okay he's not really one. But he's definitely a stowaway. One that can't find anything to eat, no matter how many bags he searches through. Of course, he doesn't do this completely shamelessly. Upon rummaging through a Kaname Chidori's bag, he's... quite embarrassed, though nobody is around to see it, as he starts finding female undergarments, and decides that it's a good time to stop. It's around that time that the compartment to the cargo area opens, and Van, well, Van actually has enough sense to realize that he shouldn't be caught here, so he ducks behind a container. At the first opening he gets, the tuxedo-clad man runs through the door and shuts it behind him before wandering down the aisles. He well... he thinks he should be safe here.

Kaname glances back just in time to see Van open the door and close it behind him; she quickly turns back around, her body visibly tense. If it weren't for the fact she was on a plane, she'd call Sousuke.

But now...

Kaname swallows, eyes trained at the back of the seat in front of her, her lips pulled into a narrow line. She remains motionless as Van passes her in the aisle.

It almost seems as if Van is... looking for something as he wanders down the aisle. Looking back and forth, back and forth. ...And finally he finds what he's looking for. He's... looking right at Kaname now as he approaches her. Some people are looking at him as well. After all, they would think they'd remember a passenger dressed like that! Anyway, perhaps Kaname's fears are confirmed when he stops right in front of her. Of course... he doesn't really look angry or anything, but his hand slowly goes out... to point at the empty seat next to her. "Uh... is the seat next to you taken?"

"No," she says; there's a sharp edge to her voice, as if she's trying too hard to keep her tone perfectly neutral. "Go right ahead."

Kaname stands up to allow Van better access to his seat--

--Then immediately walks very quickly to the back of the plane, re-enters the bathroom, and locks the door behind her. She looks down at her cell, weighing the pros and cons of using the phone while the plane is in flight.

She turns her cell on, then immediately dials Sousuke's number.

If Van has noticed anything odd about her behavior, he doesn't show it. But more people seem to be giving Van strange looks. Heck, who asks if a seat is free on a plane? They have tickets for a reason. But well... at least he hasn't started killing people or anything. "Thanks," he replies, sounding as bored as before, and takes the seat next to Kaname's. Now... he just has to wait for lunch to arrive, or something. Maybe he'll ask if it takes a while.

So far, so good. Her phone seems to be ringing, but the rings are quickly replaced with a mechanical 'beep, beep, beep'.

Kaname glances down at her phone. 'Call Ended' flashes on the screen; her eyes dart to the corner of the screen. An X illuminates the area where there are normally bars marking the quality of service.

There's no reception.

"Great," she complains, and she crumples on top of the toliet. "What am I supposed to do now?"

Meanwhile, Van is having a cheery little time. Much to the displeasure, and vague amusement, of everyone else on the plane. A stewartess had just come by bearing a tray of drinks. And without asking, he reaches over and grabs a glass of milk, downing it before the lady could even protest. "Ahhh, thanks." He needed something in him, even if it was just a drink.

Kaname lets out a sigh; she can't lock herself in here all day--someone's going to bound to need to use the restroom sooner or later. But she doesn't want to go back out there and get kidnapped again, either.

Kaname considers her options, unlocks the bathroom door for the second time that day, then requests to be reseated.

From the back of the plane, Kaname keeps an eye on the back of Van's head.

From all the attention Van has gathered by now, an extra little stare doesn't give him any more notice. And really, considering all that extra attention, he's probably the single worst kidnapper there would be, if he actually was one. Not that she was there to see him do... everything he did.

Kaname watches from a distance. Everyone on the plane seems to have taken notice of him, including the stewartesses. It was pretty difficult /not/ to, considering his strange attire.

A child in the aisle points at him and is chided by his mother; from behind her, Kaname can hear two stewartesses whispering about the newcomer in the tuxedo. For a potential terrorist, he sure is drawing a lot of attention.

It's then that Kaname realizes her bag is still up there. The photographs she managed to salvage from her apartment were in that bag.

Everthing else could be replaced, but those photos could not.

Kaname marches up the aisle, and draws to a halt at her old seat. Looking down at Van, she inhales, then exhales.

Then leans over to reach for the bag underneath the seat in front of her.

Van doesn't normally take too much notice of other people. Not unless they have a claw for a hand at least. But he's finally managed to pick up on Chidori's nervousness. "Ah... is there anything wrong?" he asks. Not that he actually sounds concerned, he's still every bit as bored as before. And hungry. Man is he hungry.

"J-just grabbing my bag." Though she attempts to sound normal, Kaname's nervousness is highly palatable.

"I'll be going now," she says, once the bag's been seized, and quickly turns, prepared to rush down the aisle and back to her new seat.

Van looks confused for a moment. He might not have the... common sense that would come with buying a ticket, but... wasn't she just sitting there before? "Isn't your seat here though?" he asks. If she wants to leave anyway, Van isn't going to do anything to stop her, but he's quite confused.

"Well, yeah, but since you just showed up, I figured you might like some room to yourself!" Kaname laughs weakly. "I'll be going now."

Kaname lets out another weak laugh before quickly making her way down the aisle and back to her seat, which she takes with a sigh of relief.

It's pretty clear that Kaname's acting weird for /some/ reason.

"No that's-" Well, she's gone before he can really protest. And so Van is just shrugging at this point. And so the plane ride continues with Van accidentally pressing the stewartess call button a few times. When that was done, there was, of course, the meal. One which, as usual, he asked for all the condiments they had. ...And when they came out with small packets of them, asked for more. After he coats the food in whatever he could get, there's the shout of "DELICIOUS!!!" as he enjoys airline food much more than he really should. Thankfully, there don't seem to be too many incidents... but security is waiting for him when the plane finally lands, and the tuxedo clad man is dragged off by them.
