WHO: Kaname Chidori, Meiya Mitsurugi, Cecil Ciele, and Ken Marinaris.
WHAT: Kaname and Meiya run into Cecil on their way to Kaname's apartment.
WHEN: June 2nd, after school.
MISSION: ???
WATCH OUT FOR: Amazing coincidences.
Ah, Tokyo 02.
On the balcony of an apartment somewhere -- just a story or two off the ground -- a small, white-clad figure stands leant against it. Cecil Ciele glances down at the streets below, which aren't too far from the local high school. He doesn't have time for such things, obviously; it's the only interesting thing out there while he's making preparations.
Kaname Chidori spent the most of her Munday silently fuming; though she had always been quick to anger, even the slightest provocation was enough to earn her wrath.
Fortunately Kaname's in much higher spirits on Tuesday, thanks in part to the math tests that had been returned earlier that day. Despite the fact that the teacher had put more than a few tricky questions on the exam, she still managed to get by with a perfect score.
Unfortunately, perfect scores don't come easily, and with the college entrance exams quickly approaching, Kaname's more determined than ever to keep her average up. And that happens to be the reason why she's with Meiya Mitsurugi, walking up the flight of of stairs to her apartment; the two are cramming for this week's Japanese Literature Exam.
"It was totally crazy!" she says, laughing, as she climbs up the final steps to her floor.
It's then that she catches sight of him--a pale-haired boy who stands against the balcony, gazing out at the streets.
She can't recall ever seeing /him/ before.
"Hey, do you live here?" she asks, gesturing to the apartment next to hers.
Meiya had been wondering what had made Kaname so cranky on Monday, but today she seemed in much better sorts. "I know!" she didn't manage a perfect herself, she studied hard but she made some mistakes, Math isn't her forte but it's something she has to know. "I got a 92. I keep missing something at the end of the equations."
But the math test is over, and now they're on to Japanese Literature, this is something Meiya manages pretty well at natually, English Literature is her worst subject though. "The entrance exams are going to be brutal, aren't they?"
Meiya stops as Kaname does, and looks over at the pale haired boy, though she doesn't say anything, this is Kaname's apartment building, not hers.
The boy -- Kaname must be a pro at this not to mistake him for a /girl/ at first like many others do -- boredly looks on, thumbing at a cell phone he's just shut. He's just wearing a white dress shirt and some matching slacks today, not as formal as he usually tends to be. He does seem pretty surprised when he suddenly hears a teenage girl's voice.
There's a jump -- and he reaches for his pocket --
His hand stays in there, using the other to push himself off from the railing as he regards Kaname and her companion with half-dead blue eyes. "Hnn ... ?" he glances, lowering his shoulders and tilting his head, giving the two a disarming smile.
"Why -- yes, I do."
Ack!
Kaname's completely caught off-guard by Cecil's charming smile. Though she'd never admit it, he was actually kind of cute.
"I'm Kaname Chidori," she says. "I live next door to you. You know, you'd think that we would have run into each other more often. You didn't just move in, did you?"
The apartment next door had been so quiet recently that she had thought that there wasn't anybody living there. But he certainly didn't seem like the type to wrestle his brothers or play video games loudly at strange hours of the night, either.
"And this is my classmate, Meiya Mitsurugi," she says, gesturing to her long-haired companion. "The two of us attend Jindai High School." As if the uniform they wore wasn't any indication.
Meiya is a little less taken in by the smile, though the man seems pleasent. Ever the more formal of the pair, Meiya folds both hands infront of her and bows slightly, "Hello." she stands straight again and smiles slightly.
Cecil runs a hand through his blonde hair. Definitely not a native of the country.
He pauses, nodding as he takes in both of their greetings. It's strange ... these people just act like he's like the rest of them. No posturing, no sneering, no objectifying. It's a nice change, he thinks, but then Cecil realizes he's making a faux pas -- staring too long at a woman. Two of them, too.
He looks up. "I did," the boy says, turning to fully face them. "I don't attend your school, though."
And there's Kaname butting into everyone's business again. She leans forward, her arms clasped around her school handbag behind her back.
"Where do you go to school, then?" Kaname asks. He /looks/ like he's about their age. He's /probably/ a junior or senior in high school.
Meiya blinks a llittle and looks over at Kaname as she decides this boy is worth grilling. Well she knows once Kaname gets an idea into her head, it's impossible to get it out.
Cecil doesn't appear to be moved by Kaname's nosiness. He looks over his shoulder off in the direction of the high school, then the girl again, as if trying to decipher what she's doing. Meiya's gesture helps a little too -- implying that this is a pretty common event.
The boy sighs, folding his arms behind his back. "I go to the elementary school. I'll be a freshman next year."
For such a young-looking guy, he's pretty calm ... he walks close to the two, stopping a couple feet away from them with that cutesy smile on his face again.
Maybe Kaname was right on the money when it came to Cecil's gender, but it seems that she's totally off when it comes to his age.
"Really?" If he's really as young as he seems to be, then Kaname's impressed at how /neat/ his clothing is. Most kids his age run wild, with their shirts untucked and pants wrinkled--but Cecil's dressed pretty neatly.
"You know," she says, folding her arms over her chest. "It's only polite to give your name when someone else gives you theirs!"
Meiya glances at Kaname, she's in full swing today - she wonders if something happened recently. As Meiya is slightly behind Kaname, she holds up one hand and motions Cecil to indulger her - it'll make this go faster.
Cecil pulls at the collar of his shirt a little -- it is sort of hot here, given that summer's just starting. He kind of gets the feeling from Meiya's reactions that he should really do this /or else something terrible will happen/. He blinks, dully, but nods and gestures.
"Cecil Ciele. You can call me CC if you'd like."
He bows at the waist for good measure. After all, appeasing Kaname is probably for the best ... even though his hand is still in his pocket, where he can be secure in the fact that his knife's still in it.
Meiya watches the boy's bow, he must have something important in his pocket, because she hasn't seen him take his hand out of it yet. Odd. She pushes it to the back of her mind, it's probably parania bred from being a pilot too long at her age.
"How do you like it here so far?" She doesn't really live in this area, instead she lives in the ridiculous wealthy part of town.
Kaname's just thankful that Sousuke's not around. Anyone who's even /remotely/ abnormal he considers a potential terrorist threat. And Cecil's certainly not the norm for /this/ apartment building.
"Where are you from?" Kaname chimes in afterwards.
My, so many questions.
Cecil pulls his hand out of his pocket; it's empty, given that he cups his chin with it as if overwhelmed and having to take a breather to think. He supposes telling the truth wouldn't be so bad, even if it would elicit some interesting reactions. "I'm from the colonies," he replies. Now Kaname probably won't feel /so/ bad about the mistaken age since space can be pretty weird on the human body. "Earth isn't all that bad."
Ken Marinaris had come on and off to Tokyo 02, sure it was a bit risky? But it was a part of the world she'd not seen and well you can't really find out more about where your enemies come from, if your just attacking it. Kind of hard to learn much of use that way.
Ken had been planning to meet some other BAHRAM pilots for the day but that fell through thanks to Volokovo and a small disaster in the kitchen aboard the ship. He had been warned about mixing several of the most nasty brands of hot sauce in the solar system but he did it none the same.
Lunch hadnt turned out so well and only Kens being late had saved her from such a grim fate. So here she was just out and about. Shes gotten off the tourist path some time ago and does well stick out. The long red hair, pale skin and the ahem twin peeks of mars even when shes dressing modestly mark her clearly as a foreigner.
Shes walking along hands in her pocket, nothing flashy on save perhaps a baseball cap with the logo of a popular Martian sports team. Jacket pants, really shes not interesting in getting extra attention. Shed have passed Meiya and Kaname by without thinking but wait why is Cecil here? That has her turn around and wander over.
"Hello."
No she doesn't seem intent to rat out her fellow pilot though she wonders why Cecils been hanging around Leonard lately. That was kind of odd, still look she's a distraction!
Kaname blinks in surprise. "From the colonies?" Kaname's never been to the colonies herself, but if anyone was going to travel /that/ far to live somewhere else, Kaname couldn't imagine /anyone/ wanting to live /here/.
It's then that she hears a shout from underneath the balcony; Kaname spins around to catch sight of a well-endowed pinkhead looking up from below. "Friend of yours?" she asks, turning to glance over at Meiya and Cecil.
Meiya looks a little suprised as well. "The Colonies." most people don't seem to immigrate back to Earth. "Did your family move here?"
Meiya then looks over the balcony after Kaname, and shakes her head to the other girl. She's never seen Ken... not face to face.
"Hey, I didn't mean it like that!" she protests, but before she can say anything more, the martian issues her request.
"Oh! Yeah!" Kaname shouts, leaning over the balcony. "Actually, there's a pretty good place not too far from here. It's called the Barcode Cafe."
"Ah.." Meiya considers "Theres G-Island City, though the air is a little smogy, it's a nice place otherwise. Thats where the Space Development Corperation is, and it's the largest artificial island in Tokyo-02."
At Kaname's reaction, Cecil covers his mouth with a hand, but some giggles still manage to escape. "... Anyway, I have to do some things," he says as the conversation starts to turn toward all of the various sights of Tokyo; this is probably a good place for him to remove himself. The boy starts to head away from them toward the balcony where he was before, settling his hand on the sliding door and pushing it open with a *shhhk*.
It seems unwise to dally much longer here, so its perhaps best she gets going. Cecil is behaving oddly even for him at this point, "G island? Isnt that where the GGG is located?" Guy might be an EFA ally but shes heard and seen good things such as the dividing driver in action. She might slink around then again she might get caught as The GGG is far from incompetent whod think a place run by a retired Sentai team leader would be so on the ball?
"Anyway thank you Ill check both out. Im sorry for bothering you three."
With that Ken departs again but once shes out of sight she pulls out a cell phone. "Hey ya its me, dont worry Im all right. I just wanted you to check some radio logs for me on Cecil since your idle you might as well do something useful." She pauses "No dont worry Ill pick up that copy movie you want. You know you could pirate it? Wait what do you mean you want to support. Just get that done Ill get the movie." What was wrong with her mech, it was really lippy some days.
Meiya watches Ken as she leaves, then turns to look at Cecil disappear into his apartment. She stands up straight again as she pushes off the railing "Well, we still have a test coming up." she reaches into her school bag and pulls out a copy of Miayamato Musashi's The Book of The Five Rings. "And I've heard you say you haven't even /started/ on this."
She looks over the edge of the book at her friend. "If I have too, I'll tell Mana to bring me things for staying overnight."
