Log o11.
WHO: Kaname Chidori, Meiya Mitsurugi, Cecil Ciele, and Macua Huitl.
WHAT: Girl's night out??
WHEN: June 13th.
MISSION: A normal sleepover.
WATCH OUT FOR: An abnormal sleepover.
When Kaname brought up the idea of staying over one night, Meiya half pounced, half pleaded. The only time she gets to stay away from home is when she's working and thats on a ship or some base, and decidedly NOT fun. Well, it's certinely no vacation.
So Meiya rrives on Saturday evening with her bag of overngiht stuff and knocks on Kaname's door.
She really hopes theres no tentcle monster magical girls this time.
Thankfully, there are no magical girls inside Kaname's house--just one Kaname Chidori, whose powers were more paranormal than magical.
When Meiya knocks on the door, Kaname's simmering beef-and-potato curry on the stovetop; the rice cooker emit a cheery 'ding' as she opens the front door.
"Oh, hey, Meiya," Kaname says, taking a step back to allow her friend in. "You have good timing; I'm actually just about to finish dinner."
Meiya smiles as Kaname opens the door "Ah, thank you." she steps inside as she puts down her bag "Smells good." she steps over to the kitchen, "Thanks for letting me stay over, Kaname. I don't get much chance away from the house."
"Don't mention it," Kaname says. The truth is, things could get pretty lonely living by herself. Even though she'd lived alone for a few years now, she never could really get used to the emptiness of her apartment.
"You like curry, right?" she asks, stirring the mixture with a ladel. "Sousuke likes it, so I end up making it a lot. I guess you could say I'm pretty good at it!" Not only is curry fairly easy to make, it's also pretty good after it's reheated, too.
"Don't worry, it's one of my favorites." Meiya isn't a stranger to cooking actually, though she learned most of it from her maid Mana. "Oh..." Meiya looks up at Kaname "Does Sousuke have dinner here often, or something?"
Kaname realizes what she's said a second too late, and immediately swoops in to shoot down any assumptions Meiya might have made about her relationship with Sousuke.
"N-no!" she stammers defensively.
And then:
"The only time that /bozo/ comes over is when he needs help with his homework!" she says, nose raised. She nods firmly, arms folded over her chest, ladel still in her hand.
Kaname reaches inside the cabinet for two bowls. The truth is, she'd like to tell Macua and Meiya everything. About her, about Sousuke, about everything that happened second year during that fateful school trip. It would make everything so much /easier/.
But she couldn't.
She spoons some rice into the bowls, tops it with furikake, and ladels in curry for the both of them.
Methinks the lady doth protest too much.
"Thank you." she says as the rice and curry are spooned into the bowl and she goes to sit at the taable.
"But you make dinner for him when he does..."
"Y-yeah? So what? I made dinner for you, too, didn't I?"
Kaname plops into her chair with a sigh. Things would be so much easier if she could just tell everyone that Sousuke was her /bodyguard/. She had no interest him romantically whatsoever!
Meiya can't conter that comeback, not easily, so she moves on. She sort of wishes she could reveal the whole truth to Kaname to, about Siberia, about just how close the world came to being overrun. She can't though, and it weighs on her mind.
"He is different." she finally says. "I don't think thats /bad/ though. He seems reliable too."
"Well, yeah, he might be reliable, but he's totally lacking in common sense. Those sort of guys are so exhausting to deal with," Kaname says, letting her hand fall slightly into her open palm.
She spoons a little rice into her curry. "It's like they don't even /think/ before they act. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just Sousuke, but it's almost every guy we know!" Except maybe Duo.
Meiya thinks about this as she spoons some curry into her mouth, and leaves it in there.
Sousuke, Johnny, Tasuku. Her face drops with each name she adds to the list.
"I guess your right."
Kaname raises her arms, her hands sidewards in a gesture of exasperation. "If they would just act /reasonable/, maybe we'd have /some reason/ to go out with them."
Geez.
Kaname goes back to eating.
Meiya doesn't process the full implication of these words at first. At first she thinks about Tasuku. Tasuku the dummy, Tasuku the stupidly brave man that saved her life, Tasuku the STUPID JERK that flirts with every girl he sees even if Meiya is still in ear shot.
Meiya is in the middle of tightening her grip on her bowl when the full depth of the words sink in. "...so... You're looking for someone?"
"W-what? /Me/?!" Kaname initial reaction is surprise, but her expression quickly turns thoughtful. She's really considering this seriously.
"You know, it's not really important to me right now," she says, after a moment of thought. "If the right guy came around, then sure, I /might/ go out with him. But it's not like I'm going around looking for that guy, either."
meiya hoenstly thoght Kaname would go on to completely deny it, but is pleased when she tells the truth. "Me neither. I mean... a few guys have flirted with me, but..." she sighs "I know they just go and flirt with some other girl minutes later. I really haven't seen any that really catch my eye."
Kaname continues eating her curry, even as Meiya speaks. It seems sort of weird; the three of them are pretty popular, and yet only Macua has a boyfriend. Even Kyoko, one of Kaname's good friends--and likely the only one she's /sure/ isn't a pilot, seems to have something going on with Ono-D, even if neither will admit it.
Kaname's problem stems from high standards; she's refused plenty of guys before--guys who were, if at all possible, even more clueless than even Sergeant Sousuke. But, unlike Meiya, she's been on dates before.
Though most of them /have/ been set up by Kyoko.
"Guys like that are the worst. How does any guy seriously expect to get a girl like /that/?" Kurz surfaces to the forefront of her mind, and she lets out a small sigh. Geez.
Meiya eats more of her curry, nodding to Kaname as she talks. "I know..." she shighs as well. "I think they're not looking for a relationship,b ut..." she blushes "...you know."
Now Kaname's curious! "What?"
Way to make Meiya uncomfortable, Kaname. "You know..." she says quietly as her blush gets brighter across her cheeks. "They're just looking for..." if her hands weren't full she'd be wringing the ends of her hair ribbon.
"...sex."
"S-sex?!"
Now Kaname's embarrassed, her own cheeks painted a bright red of crimson. She knew that a ton of guys--Kurz Weber included--had more than love and romance in their line of sight.
But Sousuke... was Sousuke one of those guys, too? He didn't seem like it... but he /was/ a guy.
She lets out an awkward laugh--the same loud and awkward laugh she lets out whenever they're on a subject that leaves her floundering.
"All guys can't be like that, /right/?"
"Oh no!" Meiya shakes her head "I don't think all guys are like that." she still blushing "Sometimes guys are genuinly nice to me. Tasuku is sometimes but, then he's off flirting with another girl... Thats frustrating."
"I think there are nice men out there, but I think a lot of boys our age haven't matured enough."
Even though Meiya has already taken the conversation in a different direction, Kaname's mind is still firmly stuck on Sousuke. He didn't seem like that sort of guy at all. He was more likely to use a condom for collecting water than he was for its intended purpose.
Still...
"In any case," she says, suddenly standing. "It's not something that concerns either one of us." She picks up her bowl, now completely cleaned of curry, and deposits it in the sink.
Meiya finishes off the last of her curry. "Mhh.." he stands up and takes her own bowl to the sink. "I guess not. If they want to behave that way, it's not really my problem." Granted, she can probably kick the crap out of most guys twice her size.
There's still a lot of curry left over. Normally, Kaname'd just save it for Sousuke, but because he's on yet another one of his escapades, there's no telling when he'll be back to eat it. Instead, she packs it up with all intention of delivering it to her neighbor.
"Hey, Meiya, want to walk with me next door?" she says, lifting the filled container.
"Okay." Meiya nods. "I wonder though... does a boy that age really live alone?" it seems odd to her.
Kaname laughs. "I doubt it." Even Kaname was in high school when she started living on her own; she couldn't imagine someone as young as CC living by himself.
The door is locked behind them, and Kaname knocks in the door adjacent to her own, curry and rice in hand.
"Of course." never mind Meiya had to live in a bunker underground when she was that age, she never can quiet tell whats different in a normal life.
There isn't an answer for a while.
When the door finally opens with a creak, though, it's wide enough just so Cecil can peek out. He blinks blearily -- his hair's a little mussed up, clothing disshevelled as well as if they were just thrown on. He wipes his eyes then, noticing Kaname and Meiya right by her.
He gives the two a crooked smile. "What's up ... ?" It seems kind of dark inside.
Kaname blinks at the slightly disheveled foreigner; his clothes Were wrinkled, his hair toussleed. Was he asleep or something?
"We brought you some leftover curry," Kaname says. "You /do/ like curry, right?"
Meiya sort of blinks at Cecil as well, wonder if they've disturbed him. "We didn't wake you or anything, did we?"
The boy perks, straightening up. His facial expression doesn't change much, though, and he keeps his arm on the ajar door. "... Of course I do," he says, flashing Kaname that adorable smile he did before. It kind of has a weird edge to it.
Cecil pauses. "And ... no, not at all."
All right, now that's definitely kind of weird.
"It should still be warm, so you should eat it right away. Make sure to share it with your parents, too," Kaname lectures.
That was a little...strange. Maybe they should chalk it up to Cecil just getting up. "Yes, there should be plenty."
"..."
Cecil cracks the door open a little more, poking out the rest of his body -- leaning, he silently takes the curry. "... I guess you can come in if you don't want to stand around outside."
Kaname slips inside the dimly-lit apartment; aside from the barest of furnishings, the place is virtually empty--and devoid of any decoration whatsoever. It's actually kind of depressing.
/Really/ depressing, actually.
"Have you guys finished moving in yet?" she asks as she slips her shoes off in the hall.
Meiya follows Kaname inside and slips off her shoes in the entryway, glancing around. Wow this si so bare it reminds her of...
Of a barracks.
There's hardly any furniture, and what is there looks pretty old. The wallpaper's peeling off. It seems like it was abandoned recently. The hall leads to a 'kitchen' and also splits off into a few other rooms along the way, the doors all closed.
Cecil sets the curry on the kitchen table, pushing aside an open bottle of pills. There's a few identical ones on the countertop. There's a bunch of loose ones sitting around.
"Sorry -- it's kind of messy," he explains -- an understatment. "I live here on my own. My parents died long ago."
Meiya was right, but it doesn't stop surprise from registering on Kaname's face.
"You live here all by yourself?" She had always been pretty responsible for her age, but she couldn't imagine living alone at Cecil's age. Even when she stayed in Tokyo, it was her own choice; it was never thrust upon her like it may have been in Cecil's case.
"You don't have any relatives to take care of you?"
Meiya looks around, taking note of the disrepair of the place, it's...sort of awful to think he's living alone in a place like this. "You have to live in such a rundown room?"
Cecil scrounges around for any forks or plates -- well, he finds one on the floor. Just a quick dust and it's fine to use. He sets it on the table, staring down momentarily as the two teen girls question him. He looks up. "... ... It's fine. I get a check every month from the government."
"You can't just eat off a plate like that!" Kaname snatches the plate away before he can use it, and makes her way to the sink, only to find--
--there's nothing there. No sponge, no soap, not a thing.
"This is totally hopeless," she moans. "Don't you have anything to wash with?"
Meiya watches Kaname, great, now she's gone off on a tangent. It'll be hours before it's over, if Meiya's lucky.
"... No," Cecil replies, glancing over at a trashcan full of instant food packaging. That probably explains it. Do you really think that a 13 year old boy could actually cook?
He glowers a little.
Meiya's right--Kaname's just about to go on a tangent.
"Look, you might be living on your own, but this is no way to treat yourself," Kaname lectures. "You can't just leave dishes on the floor, and if you keep eating like that--" A finger is pointed sharply in the direction of the trash can-- "You're going to end up getting /sick/! How are you going to take care of yourself, /then/?"
Kaname looks down at Cecil expectantly.
Here we go. "Kaname..." Meiya starts, but thinks better of it, she turns to look at Cecil. This si his home after all.
The boy's fists slowly tighten up as Kaname's lecture commences -- and by the end, they're practically white-knuckled from pressure. He feels his cheeks become burning hot; this is a feeling he hasn't felt in quite some time -- no, it's completely new. This is different.
... Shame? ... Guilt?
Kaname looks at him, and that's when Cecil's face wrinkles into a mask of barely-contained rage, tears budding from his lids. "Go away!!" he howls, shoving the flimsy table forward, knocking the bottle off with a plastic clatter and spilling their contents haphazardly along the peeled linoleum. Not a moment passes by and he's tensing like a spring, eyes wild.
Cecil's reaction catches Kaname off-guard, and she takes a half-step back. She debates whether or not to apolgize, or to press onward; against what is perhaps her better judgment, she decides to continue. She's not going to let some temper tantrum stop her from saying what needs to be said.
"No one expects you to act like an adult," she says. "But they do expect you to take some personal responsibility! Do you think just knocking things over like that or /yelling/ is going to /make things better/?"
"If you don't know how to cook, then fine," she says, "I'll teach you. And if you don't have anything to clean with, I can loan you some of my things. But if you're going to be living alone, you need to take care of yourself /properly/, or go stay with someone who /can/."
Well this went from bad to worse. "Cecil!" Meiya says sternly as he knocks over the table. "Theres no point in doing that. If you don't want us here, then we can go. But don't act like that just because someone is trying to help you."
Meiya turns back to the entryway "Kaname, theres no point in forcing it on him."
The words just bounce off -- Cecil doesn't even seem to hear them.
At the apex of his readiness, the boy springs forward -- flying -- like a bat out of hell hand-first at the blue-haired Japanese girl. Despite his small size and slight-looking stature, he's unnervingly strong and fast; his movements are like a body that's been trained to fight in a military fashion. He's going for her neck, aiming to slam her against one of the dingy walls. His pupils are constricted to tiny points; whites of his eyes fully showing and nostrils flared.
This is certainly not your usual 'tantrum'.
Definitely not your usual tantrum!
Letting out a yelp of surprise, Kaname stumbles backwards, in an attempt to move away from the light-haired kid. Instead, her back hits the wall, hard.
Meiya turns back towards the pair as she hears that yelp.
Meiya move remarkably fast, pushing beyond what even a military trained body ought to be able to do. She's been trained physically most of her life, fought for most of her life.
It only takes two steps before her arm comes in, intridicting between Kaname and Cecil, and pushing the smaller boy outwards and away.
Cecil's hands are on Kaname's neck -- but his cruel grip is ripped away with surprising ease as Meiya steps in and shoves him backward. Off-balance, the boy crashes back into the formerly-standing table, one eye squeezed closed from the pain.
He practically /roars/, a primal and senseless sound as he immediately pushes himself back up; this time, his target is Meiya.
Macua had earlier this day be involved in the jail break of a CB pilot. She'd managed to keep things from getting too messy on her end and they'd found several mia orb Gundams as well the EFA had. SO that was good, she'd remember Kaname and Meiya had something about a sleep over.
She'd pop by heck she'd picked up pizza on the way, right? She realises how she's got to juggle too lives and has no idea what's she about to run into. She senses panic confusion and anger as she enters the all she now makes for where it's coming from she just opens the door still holing the pizza and can only stare in abject horror at what's going on Cecil's their hands around Kanames throat then Meiya going in like some sort of Samurai. Then the follow up. She doesn't go for a gun. She didn't think shed need to carry one to visit her friends this evening. As for the pizza box? Its dropped flat on the floor.
Kaname's head hits against the wall as he presses his hands against her neck; she gasps out for air, hands trying aimlessly to push the boy off of her. But before she can, Meiya moves in, knocking Cecil off of her.
Kaname is scared. Not as scared as she was when she was captured by the terrorists during the class trip her second year, or as scared as she was when she was onboard the TDD-1 during the attack, but still /scared/. Cecil seemed like a good kid, if a little weird--but she didn't think he was anything like this!
He pulls himself off of the ground, strange gleam at his eye; his eyes are set on his target: Meiya.
"Cecil, stop it!" If she had turned around, she might have seen Macua at the door, but she refuses to take her eyes off of the child pilot.
And she may not be as tough as your battle-hardened soldier, or have the same intense military training as her friends, but there's no way she's going to let him hurt Meiya.
Kaname attempts to knock Cecil down.
At this point in time, it seems that the situation is tense. Someone's about to do something stupid in regards to someone else. And someone is probably going to end up injured. Then, in the corner of the room, there's a hissing sound. A white smoke seems to be coming out of a canister that has just crashed through a freshly made hole in the window. White smoke and tear gas.
Then there is a much larger crash as someone comes barreling through said windows, rolling towards... Kaname?
Kaname will find herself tackled to one side as she moves to interfere in combat, and a gas mask is thrust over her face. No one else is offered any such courtesy.
The next few seconds, the smoke clears enough to allow for someone to see a figure with a pistol drawn, pointed at Cecil. "Put your hands behind your head and get on the ground immediately, or I will open fire." Three guesses as to who's just made his entrance, and the first two don't count.
When Cecil launches himself at Meiya in retribution, and Kaname comes in trying to rush Cecil, Meiya's focus is broken "No, Kaname do-" the hissing gas canister changes just about everything, and Meiya's only recourse is to try and push her way past Cecil as quick and as hard as possible.
Meiya barrels through the apartment and for the door, right into MAcua, tackling the other girl into the hallway beyond.
You really don't want to be in a room full of tear gas.
Cecil is pushed -- twice -- to the ground yet again, sent skidding across the pill-littered (and now glass shard-litterd) ground. He lands on his knees, but doesn't get up immediately.
Partly because he's catching his breath, and partly because the air has suddenly become extremely acrid -- causing him to work twice as hard for it. Gasping, one hand reaches to his throat -- another reaches to rub furiously at his eyes as he hunkers down, coughing hoarsely.
"Ghh -- aaghh --"
He doesn't even notice the gun pointed at him. Slowly he staggers up, eyes forced shut.
Macua Huitl has a flash of the future someone's coming in and wait then there's a blue blur she's starting to react but she's a bit slower than normal. She's already been through a grinder to day. Meiya is able to tackle the New Type pretty well. The good thing was Macua was able to shift her position so when she hit wall on the other side of the hallway it would hurt a heck of a lot less. To her credit she doesn't make a surprised noise and she hears someone giving Cecil the Riot Act.
"Meiyaare you all right?"
One thing at a time once Meiyas okay and also off of her they can figure out what the hell to do about whats going on with the apartment. Theres a good idea who charged in and it has pretty much made up for anything in the last several months at school. Though is Kaname okay and what the hell happened with Cecil?
Kaname lets out a cry at the sudden intrusion; in one quick movement, she is seized, and a gas mask is strapped to her face.
It takes her only a moment to register what is happening, and in that moment, Kaname is overcome with an immense wave of gratitude. "Sousuke!" she cries out, but the sound of his name is muffled into something highly indistinguishable by the thick rubber of her mask.
She scrambles to her feet, and quickly moves behind Sousuke.
Sousuke's aim doesn't waver, targetting Cecil through the smoke. But he doesn't fire yet. "I reepat, put your hands behind your head and lie face down on the ground! Immediately!" It's unusual, perhaps. But maybe Sousuke's noticed that Cecil is too out of it to be aware yet. Or maybe Sousuke is taking a more careful approach.
But right now, he is keeping Kaname behind him, checking briefly to make sure she's all right. They can talk when she's out of danger.
Meiya groans slightly from the impact "I'm alright..." she puts her sleeve over her mouth "Don't breath in the fumes, it's tear gas." This si hard ot explain, what can she say? Well theres only one explination that might reasonably fit.
"I think it's the Police." She pulls on Macua's arm as she stands up. "Come on, down the hall or we'll be throwing up for hours." Meiya is sure thats a Mithril oprative in there, but it also sounded like... Sousuke?
Cecil's grabbing at his own throat -- he has no idea what just happened, operating purely on emotion right now. For all he cares, it's just a big blur.
He may be weakened from all of those pushes, lack of food, the burning in his throat and eyes and lungs, and lack of sleep -- but he hears Sousuke's voice and he hears the click of a gun. The boy does what is considered to be quite suicidal: he rashly breaks into a tackle toward the Mythril soldier.
Macua Huitl shakes her head a bit and pulls down that head band of hers over her mouth and then uses her sleeve for the rest. She doesn't seem to argue though she knows it's not the cops. She doesn't know Sousuke's is in Mithril. Still kind of ironic as she was giving Melissa Mao covering firing during an operation earlier. But it's for the best she's going to follow, her friend and get away from the Gas. It's Sousuke's show from here, nothing else should happen to Kaname right?
Sousuke glances back to make sure she's okay, and Kaname gives him a small nod. Cecil was stronger than he looked, and while her neck still ached dully where he gripped her, her injuries were mostly superficial.
Sousuke turns his attention back to Cecil, and she does as well. Through the mist of Sousuke's gas grenade, it's difficult to see small movements. Cecil appears to be complying; he stands up, but instead of putting his hands behind his head, he breaks into a tackle--straight at Sousuke.
"Sousuke, look out!" It's a muffled cry in the moment before the boy's attack.
What happens next is kind of a blur of activity. As Cecil lunges blindly at Sousuke, Sousuke darts forward and to the side, aiming to slip behind him. He quickly then moves to a take down, sweeping for Cecil's legs, and grabbing his arms, pulling them behind the young man. The end result, hopefully, is Cecil face down on the ground, with Sousuke restrainign him.
It's amazing how quickly these things can end.
Before he can compensate, Cecil is brought down like a wild animal -- grabbed with his arms wrenched behind himself, the youth cries out before he's silenced by dry heaves. This is made more complicated by the fact that he's now in a rather cramped position with his face to the ground; naturally, he wriggles around, but isn't really putting up much of a fight in the face of Sousuke's superior strength.
Meiya has retreated down the hallway, she can't really effect whats goingon in there anymore, save to pray that Kaname will be alright.
Sousuke does the next most sensible thing: finish restraining the captive. Pulling out a pair of handcuffs, Cecil's arms are locked up. But Sousuke does not intend on letting him out of his sight. Not long after, the smoke clears, and Sousuke finally raises his gas mask.
"Kaname, are you all right?" About time he asked.
"Y-yeah," she says, pulling her own mask off in turn. She's still a little shaken up by the entire incident; it's not as though she came over to share some curry /expecting/ to be attacked by a junior high student. "But what are we going to do about him?" Kaname gestures down at Cecil.
Macua Huitl likewise once she's out of the way for now but realises she's forgot the pizza but it's likely contaimated by the Gas. She looks over to Meiya and just says nothing. It's certain though she's thinking about something likely what the hell just happened. Though she may hear Kaname talking so she's all right.

Meiya coughs a little, escaping the gas entirely was nearly impossible. "So much for...staying over." she sighs.
"..."
Cecil's still gagging and coughing, wriggling -- but he's not moving as much as he was before now that he's handcuffed. He stares at the floor.
Macua Huitl hacks a bit, "We're going to my place, it's a bit small but it's better than dealing with this Gas. I got food there and we can get another Pizza on the way there."
Sousuke stands up, looking down at the restrained Cecil. "I'll have to keep him under surveillance until someone arrives to pick him up." And Mithril will want to talk to him. It could have been a random occurrence, but with everything else, Mithril would be fools to not double check.
"Kaname, what exactly happened here?"
"Actually?" cough "We just had curry..." Meiya sucks in a deep breath. "Stay here a minute..." she walks back over to Cecil's apartment door, but doesn't enter just yet. Instead she stays out of sight but knocks on the door frame.
Stay in there any long you two and she'll start inferring things.
Where does she even start?
"I came over here with Meiya to bring Cecil some curry. We had some left over." Kaname speaks slowly and deliberately, as if trying to make sure that she has all the details correct. "When we came over, Cecil let the two of us inside. After that--"
Kaname is interrupted by a knock at the door.

Sousuke nods as he listens, quickly activating a beacon for Mithril to respond to. And then Sousuke turns slowly to face the door.
Crap. He forgot about those other two.
"Some one else is going to notice what went on eventually." Meiya says from around the corner.
Macua Huitl has followed Meiya by this point and speaks up. "That's the biggest problem. Thank you for your help!" Hey he did save their behinds after all.
